These bands are also a really interesting bunch; the subculutre that appertains to them is best described as the power-pop movement of the early 90s, as Jellyfish was once betokened by Jools Holland as perhaps the most "intelligent and clever band since The Beatles". These guys were wearing tight paisley riddled pants, ruffled tshirts, and sported long curly hair while the rest of the world was gawking at talantless grunge and punk rock. If that's not a subculture I don't know what is.
